THE STORY BEHIND THE COURT
The Court is a collection of illustrated fine bone china and candles inspired by the figures of a traditional playing-card deck. Kings, queens and jacks are reworked as distinct characters, with a contemporary take on forms that have been recognised for generations.
The idea comes from the card games once played in the British drawing room, where careers were made, new connections formed, and character and wit put to the test. They were part of conversation, company and an evening at home. The collection brings that history into the present through contemporary illustration, with pieces designed to be used, displayed and enjoyed every day.
Our fine bone china is made in Stoke-on-Trent, England, then hand decorated and finished with a 22ct gold rim. The designs appear across mugs, trinket dishes and other pieces, alongside candles from the same collection.
Each design works on its own, while the King and Queen also form a natural pair. They can be chosen for yourself, given as a wedding or anniversary gift, or brought together as matching pieces for two people.
