Gyokuro loose leaf green tea is regarded as the most refined of Japan’s shade-grown teas, prized for its remarkable depth and elegance.
Cultivated in Kagoshima and shaded for several weeks before harvest, the leaves develop a richness and natural sweetness that direct sunlight would diminish. The infusion is smooth and full-bodied, with pronounced umami, delicate marine notes and a lingering sweetness that remains long after the final sip.
Unlike many green teas, Gyokuro is brewed at a lower temperature to preserve the integrity of the leaf and reveal its layered character. The leaves unfurl gradually, yielding successive infusions of increasing complexity and softness.
Carefully selected from one of Japan’s most respected tea-growing regions, this is a beautifully balanced Japanese green tea that reflects the quiet precision for which exceptional Gyokuro is known.
